Chapter One

“Who’s the dude on the bike?” Charlotte asked.

“Neighbor. Moved in last month,” Nina said.

“What’s his name?”

“I don’t know. I haven’t met him yet.” Nina continued working on the flower bed.

She swore every year she wasn’t going to do it, but she always ended up planting something, and then have to keep the weeds out of it.

“You know, instead of watching my neighbor, you could help me with these weeds like you promised,” Nina groused.

“Weeding is no fun,” Charlotte complained.

“Yeah, I know, but I went on that blind date with SpongeBob SquarePants, so you have to help me with weeding the flower bed.”

“Why do you insist on calling him that?”

“Maybe because he looked like him, square pants and all,” Nina said.

“Oh, wow,” Charlotte suddenly exclaimed.

“What?” Nina continued with her head down pulling weeds.

“He took off his shirt. It looks like he’s going to cut his grass.”

“Good. It needs cutting.”

“He has some serious ink on him,” Charlotte said.

“Stop ogling my neighbor and help me, or I will never help you with your taxes again.”

“Crap, you play hardball.”

Nearly an hour later, Nina finally stood up and stretched the cramps out of her legs and back. The bed was weed-free again. She could relax with a tall glass of lemonade. She and Charlotte walked through the house to wash up and grab some lemonade on their way out the back to her patio.

It had to be close to a hundred degrees, she thought. She glanced toward the lawnmower noise coming from next door and had to bite her tongue to keep it from hanging out. Charlotte was right. He had some serious ink, but also some serious muscles going on, too. Why hadn’t she noticed that before? Because you swore you wouldn’t get interested in your neighbor.

“Told you so.” Charlotte smiled, catching her in the act of ogling her neighbor.

“It just caught me by surprise is all.”

She made a show of turning her back to her neighbor and leaned back to enjoy the sun. Charlotte talked nonstop about her latest boy toy and who was seeing who in the office. Nina tuned her out and thought about what she would do for her vacation that was coming up soon. She thought about going to the mountains and renting a cabin. She’d also thought about a road trip to see some of the United States. She’d lived in Texas all her life and never stepped foot outside of the state. She just couldn’t make up her mind.

“I’ve got to run, Nina. I’ll see you at work on Monday. You should go introduce yourself to that sexy neighbor of yours. He’s not SpongeBob.”

“Ha, ha,” Nina said in a dry voice. “Lock the front door on your way out, okay?”

“No problem.” Charlotte took her glass and left.

Nina decided to stay outside for another thirty minutes and get a little more sun. It wasn’t so bad with the breeze beginning to blow.

She must have fallen asleep because suddenly, cold water dripped on her chest. She jumped up and head-butted her neighbor who stood looking over her shoulder.

“Ow!” she complained holding her head.

“Sorry, didn’t expect you to jump up like that.”

He had the deepest voice she’d ever heard. It strummed through her pussy like fingers over guitar strings.

“Why did you drop water on me in the first place?”

He spread his arms. “I didn’t mean to. It fell off my beer can. I had it in the cooler.”

“So what are you even doing over here?” After she said it she realized how bad it sounded. But still.

“You’ve been out here for over an hour, and I figured with your fair skin, you’d be burning right about now. Just thought I would wake you up so you could go inside.”
